BIOGRAPHY

Ehud Ettun is an Israeli-born bassist and composer known for his melodic, expressive approach to the upright bass. Blending jazz tradition with modern lyricism, he has earned international recognition for redefining the possibilities of the double bass— as a deeply vocal, versatile storytelling force. His sound is rooted in the spirit of players like Giovanni Bottesini, Charles Mingus, Charlie Haden and Ray Brown, yet unmistakably his own. Ettun's music draws influences from classical music, traditional Jewish and Israeli music and from artists such as Chick Corea and Carla Bley to Brad Mehldau—all filtered through his distinct voice as a bassist and composer.

“Ettun can conjure the deep soulfulness of Charlie Haden.”
The Boston Globe

Ettun has performed at major venues including the Blue Note in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and has toured internationally, with stops in Boston, Toronto, Berlin, Warsaw, Tokyo and Seoul. â€‹
